Synopsis
Molly`s grandfather (Edmund Lyndeck) hires Ed to write his will and reveals a shocking secret about his past; Mike has a new rival (Mark Deklin) at the doctor`s office; and Phil hosts an open-mike night at Stuckeybowl.

Overview
Molly`s grandfather Charlie has fallen ill; she askes Ed to help with his last will and testament. When Charlie confides in Ed about an long-term, illicit homosexual affair he has been carrying on, he becomes conflicted with his allegiance to his friend, Molly and his client, Charlie. Before Charlie dies, he asks Ed to bring the family together so he can finally let his secret out. But when Charlie dies, Ed decides he will tell the family himself. Mike gets a little competition at the office when Dr. Jerome brings in a patient-pleasing doctor to vie with Mike for the practice once Dr. Jerome retires. Is "Dr. Scotty" too good to be true? Turns out he is - it was all a ploy to motivate Mike out of his relaxed ways. Phil convinces Ed to hold the first open-mike night at Stuckeybowl. Things go downhill fast, as Kenny tries to come up with a non-offensive act, Phil starts screening potential performers for their level of "showmanship," and Warren brings his band, who can perform under one condition - they play the song that Phil wrote ("Soothe My Soul, Stuckeybowl") and let him sing lead. Ed is finally kicked out of the Burton house; he goes househunting with Carol`s help. After some initial failures, he lands in Charlie`s old house, which is offered by Molly after he dies.

Molly`s grandfather bequeaths Ed all the Beef-a-roni he stocked up for Y2K, as well as grilling Ed on his love of Indian food. Ed remembers his pet turtle (which he bought from Molly`s grandfather)choking on a piece of Chewels gum. Molly discusses the tempting treat sherbet.
