73: Goodbye Stuckeyville
WILL CAROL AND ED MOVE ON TO TAKE A BITE OF THE BIG APPLE -- TOGETHER? -- A stressed-out Carol (Julie Bowen) must decide whether to accept an exciting writing job in New York City -- a choice that could separate her from Ed (Tom Cavanagh) and have severe repercussions on everyone in Stuckeyville if he sells the bowling alley and follows her to the Big Apple. Elsewhere, Molly (Lesley Boone) can`t help being drawn closer to an exciting and handsome daredevil (guest star Reg Rogers) just when her current boyfriend Sean (guest star Tom Wilson) asks her a big question. Worried about Ed`s possible departure, Mike (Josh Randall) seeks new local buddies as standby replacements while Eli (Daryl "Chill" Mitchell) also frets about losing his boss. Overview When Carol decides that she wants to uproot from Stuckeyville, move to New York City and take the job at Bridge & Tunnel magazine, Ed decides that he must to go with her -- worried that their fledgling romance couldn`t stand up to the pressures of a long-distance relationship. In the meantime, Ed represents Jeff Foster, a businessman trying to keep his partner from leaving their antenna ball business in arbitration, and Molly struggles with a dilemma resulting from Sean`s proposal that they cohabitate. When Ed breaks the news to the Stuckeybowl crew that he`s selling the alley, Eli, Phil & Shirley take matters into their own hands. With some help from Phil and a large plywood box, Ed convinces his client to allow his partner to leave their business to preserve their friendship. Mike has a hard time replacing Ed with his "old buddy" Mitch, and Molly is surprised to find her super-fun new guy Ted smooching another woman. Molly decides to break things off with both Sean and Ted. Ed solves the problem of selling Stuckeybowl by drawing up and agreement that would make Eli, Phil & Shirley co-owners. At Ed & Carol`s going-away party at Stuckeybowl, they reach a mutual understanding that Carol should follow her dreams in New York while Ed stays behind in Stuckeyville.
