Synopsis
FRANKIE DISCOVERS ED`S OBSESSION WITH CAROL WHILE JULIE STEPS OUT ON A DATE WITH GUEST STAR CHRIS ISAAK -- When Frankie (guest star Sabrina Lloyd) learns of Ed`s (Tom Cavanagh) longtime interest in Carol (Julie Bowen), she decides to take on the competition with a romantic gesture of her own -- while Carol goes on a date with a handsome new high school teacher (guest star and singer Chris Isaak, "Wicked Game" and "The Chris Isaak Show"). Elsewhere, Eli (Daryl "Chill" Mitchell) tries to help the man (guest star Steve Schirripa, "The Sopranos") who purchased his restaurant restore the eatery to its former glory and he also takes stock of how his own life has changed since the accident that partially paralyzed him. Josh Randall, JanaMarie Hupp, Lesley Boone, Michael Ian Black, Justin Long and Rachel Cronin also star.

Overview
Frankie discovers that Ed and Carol have a past she was unaware of. When Ed doesn`t tell her the entire story, she becomes even more suspicious. Eventually she asks Ed to talk with Carol about them, which he does. This move prompts Carol to take action of her own. Eli is depressed when the new owner of his former restaurant comes in looking for help. Eventually Ed musters all his pals to go over to the fish and chips place, where they all pitch in and restore the restaurant to its former glory. Carol goes on a date with the new history teacher, only to discover that she really is finally ready to be with Ed. She makes a videotape for him, but is too afraid for him to see it, so finally decides on reprising one of his own romantic gestures in an attempt to woo him. Mike decides to get an instructive video on how to become a better lover. He wows Nancy in the sack, but is left unfulfilled himself when she expresses her displeasure at returning to the former way of things.
