Carol drops a bombshell on Ed: she`s leaving Stuckeyville to pursue a writing career. Also, Ed gets caught up in the town`s heated mayor`s race, while Phil takes a young Stuckeybowler (Samm Levine) under his wing.
Carol, now free of Nick, feels a strong sense of purpose: she must find her own destiny, and that means becoming a writer and travelling the world. When she breaks the news to Ed, he buys her a trip to a local writer`s camp.
The mayor of Stuckeyville, in a tight re-election race with a man who promises to bring "modern conveniences" such as Wal-Mart and fast food to the town, counts on Ed to sway a jaded travel writer into giving Stuckeyville a higher rating. Ed frantically tries to show her that the town has unique features, but it isn`t until he tells her about the Festival of Ducks that she becomes more interested. Now Ed has to figure out what the Festival of Ducks really is, and stage it with the help of his friends.
Phil becomes a "sensei" to a promising young bowler during Stuckeybowl`s first annual bowling tournament. Phil puts the boy through rigorous training - until he is finally challenged to show off his own bowling "skills."

Stubbs Schemes Phil becomes a "bowling sensei" to young prodigy Kevin Schwarz - he renames him "Shazzam Jacobsen", makes him come to the alley every morning at 5 a.m., and makes him gulp "smart drinks" (grape soda). Only problem: Phil can`t bowl a lick.
Fine Food and Drink Mayor Kendricks indulges his fondness for Toblerones. Ed is shocked that the Suzeechio stand has been closed. Mayor Kendricks`s secretary announces that she is going to make Ed "a KEY LIME PIE!" for helping her figure out her crossword puzzle.
