ED GETS EDUCATED WHEN TEACHER IS ACCUSED OF DISCRIMINATION -- Ed (Tom Cavanagh) is hesitant to represent a veteran teacher (guest star Mark Blum) who admits he refused to cast a talented African-American student in a play, until he learns that his client is actually the one who is the true victim of discrimination. Elsewhere, Warren (Justin Long) gets an image makeover when his friend Diane (Ginnifer Goodwin) asks her cousin (guest star Amy Hohn) -- a professional publicist -- to turn around his lovable loser reputation. In addition, Molly (Lesley Boone) resists her new boyfriend`s (guest star Pat Finn) efforts to sell her old, beat-up jalopy for a newer model. Josh Randall, Jana Marie Hupp, Michael Ian Black and Rachel Cronin also star.
Carol and Molly ask Ed to defend the middle school drama coach, accused of racism when he refuses to cast an African-American student as Abraham Lincoln. The student`s father is encouraged to bring the matter before the school board, which votes 7-2 to fire Arnold. It is later discovered that the same school board member is homophobic, which prompted him to bring the termination vote in the first place.
Molly and Jim attempt to go new car shopping, after Molly sells her beloved car "Sadie" to a local high school kid. She cannot go through with the transaction, as too many memories of her first boyfriend and first kisses are attached to her car. Finally, as a surprise to Jim, she gives Sadie a proper "burial at sea".
Diane enlists the help of her publicist cousin Allison (who represents Freddie Prinze JR) to get Warren some action in Stuckeyville. Allison takes a picture of Warren with Shirley, who she makes over as a lingerie model. Then she arranges an exclusive "party", refusing to allow Foscat and Jessica into Stuckeybowl. All the work comes through as Jessica asks Warren to hang out with her the following evening.

Ten Bucks Mike bets Ed $10 to eat a potato chip, despites Ed`s 20 year quest to "eat just one". Ed initially refuses, but backs off when Mike calls an end to the ten dollar bets, declaring Ed the loser. (Ed up $50)
Legal Update Ed represents his client, Arnold, who is suing the Stuckeyville School Board for wrongful termination after he is dismissed for not casting a talented African-American student as Abraham Lincoln. Later, Ed discovers that the board member leading the crusade to terminate, dislikes Arnold because he is gay. The jury sides with Ed and gives Arnold his job back. Ed`s record as a lawyer is 15-7 with 5 settlements and 1 incomplete.
Fine Food and Drink The ten dollar bet revolves around potato chips. Carol disputes Ed`s claim that there isn`t a single food he doesn`t like. She specifically asks him about okra, liver, dog, and gefilte fish. Ed claims to like them all.
