In the first season finale, Ed continues to draw closer to Carol when he agrees to help her chaperone at the high school prom while his former law associate (guest star David Alan Basche, NBC`s "Three Sisters") pays a visit - and tempts him to forgo his small-town life and return to the high-powered firm, which has undergone positive changes. Meanwhile, while Ed ponders his newly promoted friend`s meaningful casework, he tries to help a local woman keep her heat from being shut off. In addition, a dateless Warren considers hiring a leggy employee (guest star Kylie Travis) from an escort service to accompany him to the prom and Phil believes he`s found his true calling as a guerrilla TV celebrity, who shocks innocent bystanders.
Ed and Carol navigate through some initial awkwardness left by their "almost kiss" by the pond. To ease the tension, Carol invites Ed to join her as she chaperones the junior prom. They walk back to Ed`s afterwards, and Carol comes in for a drink. They share a quiet moment, until there is a knock on the door. Enter: Bonnie Hane, returned from Washington.
Warren is shocked when Gavin and Mark confess that they both have dates to the prom. In desperation, he phones Happy Times Escorts, who provide him with a date. Tonya, a leggy blonde, is a shock to all who see her at the prom. Warren, however, only has eyes for Donna, even with his date.
Phil decides to try out for a new VH-1 show, "Outragiacs" and goes around town with Kenny and Shirley, filming himself doing crazy stunts. His efforts are rewarded when he is chosen as a finalist.
Ed`s former office mate Ron shows up at Stuckeybowl, extolling the virtues of the reformed Farmer and Sheehan. Ed is busy helping his client, Mrs. Riley, keep her electricity running, as her landlord keeps turning it off. Ron enlists Ed`s help and even offers to take him back to Farmer and Sheehan should he ever want to give up Stuckeyville life. Ed is torn, but decides that Stuckeyville is where he was meant to be.

Ten Bucks Mike offers Ed ten bucks if he doesn`t have to listen to the latest Carol Vessey/Ed Stevens saga. Ed keeps talking, and Mike ups the ante to $1000. Ed declines, making this the first ten dollar bet in which the challenge was not accepted. (Ed up $30)
Legal Update Ed helps Mrs. Riley, the tenant of an evil landlord who continually shuts off her electricity. He manages to legally force the landlord to keep the electric on, though they never set foot in the courtroom. All business is conducted by phone. Ed`s record as a lawyer is now 10-6 with 4 settlements and one incomplete.
Cast & Crew In-Jokes One of the lawyers listed by Ron as one who left is "Buckland", no doubt a nod to director Marc Buckland.
Stubbs Schemes Phil decides to try out for VH1`s latest program, Outragiacs. Kenny and Shirley follow him around town, videotaping his "outrageous" antics. The pinnacle of his outrageousness comes when he has himself crowned king of the junior prom. He is accepted as a finalist for the program.
Fine Food and Drink Mrs. Riley stores all her food at Stuckeybowl so it won`t go bad while the power is off. She instructs Kenny to take particular care with a pan of Swedish meatballs. Ron and Ed munch on candy from Ed`s bowling pin candy container. Ed and Carol, in an awkward moment, discuss coffee and caffeine. Mark reveals that his Uncle Scooter choked to death on a piece of marzipan. He laters offers his prom date punch, but she refuses. When Ed gets Mrs. Riley`s power back on, she makes him a meatloaf as thanks.
Nicknames Phil dubs himself "Bobby Thunderbolt" on the audition tape. When Warren goes to meet the pimp, he calls himself "Hector Pendleton".
