Synopsis
While wheeler-dealer Phil puts his latest scheme into motion with "Vega$ Night" at the bowling alley, Carol disputes Ed`s well-intended advice to nerdy Warren urging him to abandon caution and ask out the girl of his dreams to the school prom. Meanwhile, Ed represents a teed-off golfer (guest star Tom Bloom) who blew a match`s prize money on the last putt when a nearby fan heckled him. In addition, Mike is reluctantly drafted into arranging a tribute banquet to honor the despicable Dr. Jerome , who threatens him if the event is not conducted in a reverential manner.

Overview
Warren is conflicted when he watches Tim Cooper dump Jessica Martell right before the prom. While he wants to ask Donna, he is desperate to ask the girl of his dreams, Jessica. While Carol thinks he should ask Donna, Ed, Phil, Mark, and Gavin convince Warren to ask Jessica, who turns him down flat. He asks Donna, who has already accepted a date. Mike finds out that Dr. Jerome is to be honored as "Tri-State Doctor of the Year". Dr. Jerome puts Mike in charge of the banquet, and warns him to make it simple and classy. Unfortunately, an over-the-top event coordinator makes this close to impossible. Mike writes and delivers a short speech to introduce and congratulate Dr. Jerome at the banquet, but event coordinator Scott Hayes comes out singing and dancing, and Dr. Jerome is not pleased. Phil, Ed, Kenny, and Shirley put together Vegas Night at Stuckeybowl. Molly, Mike, and Nancy all have other plans, and Carol wonders if Ed asks her on a date when he invites her to go to the big Vegas shindig. They enjoy their time, though Carol leaves early. She and Ed reminisce about his first nights back in Stuckeyville. Ed takes the case of golfer Jerry Foley, who misses a $10,000 putt when a fan yells, "You da man!" at a critical moment in his swing. When Ed fails to convince the winner to allow the putt to be re-shot, he goes to court against the heckler.

Trivia
Ten Bucks
Ed bets Mike 10 bucks to kiss Kenny on the cheek. Mike turns the bet into a European-style greeting, hoping it will help ease the awkwardness of the situation. (Ed up $30)

Legal Update
Ed takes a heckling golf fan to court. His client wishes to sue the fan for making him miss a $10,000 putt on the last hole. The judge expresses regret when ruling in favor of the fan, stating that there is no law to keep people from acting like jerks. Ed`s record as a lawyer is now 9-6 with 4 settlements and one non-completion.

Stubbs Schemes
Phil organizes Vegas night to bring business into the bowling alley.

Nicknames
Gus McGraw, who winds up beating Jerry Foley in the golf tournament, dubs Ed "Four Eyes".

Fine Food and Drink
Kenny reveals that he ate 128 shrimp at a buffet in Las Vegas. Dr. Jerome ok`s the menu choice of filet mignon. Ed takes five sugars in his coffee, and thanks Carol for remembering. Stuckeybowl`s Vegas Night serves up a fine cocktail of Hi-C and vodka.

Dave Alert!
The comedian Phil interviews for Vega$ Night is Late Show writer Bill Scheft. Golfer and Ed`s client Jerry Foley takes his name from a longtime Late Show director.

Miscellaneous
The song that is played at Dr. Jerome`s award ceremony is a modified version of "(Oldest Established) Permanent Floating Crap Game In New York" from the musical "Guys and Dolls."
