Synopsis
When the evil Masked Magician (John Cariani) begins revealing the trade secrets of the town`s beloved magician, Stuckeyville Stan (Eddie Bracken), Ed is hired to defend the aging trickster`s honor. Ed finds the one piece of evidence that could salvage the prestidigitator`s reputation in Carol`s childhood diary, and uncovers her schoolgirl crush. Meanwhile, Phil has taken charge for the grand re-opening of Stuckeybowl.

Overview
Ed receives the rest of his belongings from New York, and finds a spatula that he used to cook scrambled eggs for his wife, sending him into a sort of emotional tailspin. Beloved local magician Stuckeyville Stan, with the help of Ed and Carol, sues the Masked Magician for ruining his act. The crew prepares for the re-opening of the bowling alley: Shirley paints a new sign, and Phil organizes purchases for concession supplies. Nancy worries that because she`s working, baby Sarah likes Kendra the nanny more than her.

Trivia
Legal Update
Ed wins the case. His record now stands at 2-0.

Ten Bucks
Mike challenges Ed to meow loud enough to make a guy sitting on a bench turn around. (Ed up $10)

Dave Alert!
Stuckeyville Stan has been doing his act for 53 years - David Letterman`s age at the time the episode first aired.

Stubbs Schemes
Phil buys 500 sets of salt and pepper shakers (the "Imperial" model), as well a truckload of napkin holders, in the belief that people will steal them as Stuckeybowl souvenirs.

Sarah`s Nannies
Nancy feels threatened that Kendra the nanny is receiving more of Sarah`s love (2nd), so she replaces her with someone with considerably less energy (3rd).

Fine Food and Drink
Nick dazzles an uncertain Carol with a candlelit picnic in the back of his truck. Ed and Mike wait for Carol to come from getting coffee so Ed can "accidentally" run into her. Ed later excuses himself from Mike and Nancy`s romantic interlude by going to get a cookie. A bored kid hits Stuckeyville Stan in the head with a Pop-Tart. Ed reminisces about the time he prepared scrambled eggs for his wife with a spatula he finds in the boxes shipped from New York. In court, Stuckeyville Stan makes a turkey dance. Phil orders 5,000 salt and pepper shakers for the snack bar.

Nicknames
Phil dubs himself "Jean Tremont" when dealing with the restaurant supply folks.

"In the old days, we would have settled things like this with a baseball bat and a sock full of quarters."
- Stuckeyville Stan (to Ed re: case against the Masked Magician)

"You didn't have a crush on me, young lady - you had a crush on the wonderful world of possibility!"
- Stuckeyville Stan (to Carol)
