Synopsis
A concerned Ed urges Carol to help him convince a carefree young couple (guest stars Brian Geraghty, Amy Spanger) from tying the knot in his bowling alley on a whim because he fears they haven`t taken the time to properly know each other for the long run. Meanwhile, Ed goes to court on behalf of an excessively overweight man (guest star Del Pentecost) who seeks a restraining order against his well-intentioned brother (guest star Shawn Powell) who resorts to outright bullying to prevent his sibling from eating himself into an early grave. In addition, moony Warren confronts his teen angst -- and hormones -- when he finally asks out Donna Tuzzi (guest star Tessa Ghylin).

Overview
A young couple gets engaged to be married after the male half bowls a strike at Stuckeybowl. They go through with their plans to marry on Saturday night in Stuckeybowl, but Ed is conflicted. He reflects on the failure of his own marriage, telling Carol he and Liz where engaged after only 4 months of dating. Ari and Barbara have known each other only 6 months, and Ed is certain they are doomed to failure. Carol finds their spontaneity romantic, pointing out that waiting 7 years doesn`t guarantee anything either. Ed helps Jamie Masters, his latest client, try to defend himself from an overzealous brother, Steve. After Jamie`s doctor tells him he needs to lose weight, or he will die, he and Steve sign a contract that Steve will do whatever it takes to get Jamie to lose 30 pounds. Steve goes out of control, and Jamie comes to Ed for help. Warren gets dating advice from Mark and Gavin, and asks Donna out on a date to the movies. His obvious insecurities seem endearing to Donna, and despite an initial incident in which Warren`s foot gets caught in the escalator, they part ways with a kiss in the moonlight.

Trivia
Ten Bucks
Ed bets Mike ten bucks to smear wedding cake on his face after giving the toast at Ari and Barbara`s wedding. (Ed up $30)

Legal Update
Ed defends Jamie Masters against his brother, Steve, who has been vandalizing Jamie`s property and destroying his reputation in an attempt to get him to lose weight. The judge sides with Jamie and orders Steve to stop harrassing his brother, but does not allow for damages to be claimed. Ed`s record as a lawyer is now 8-5 with 4 settlements and one refusal to complete service.

Stubbs Schemes
Phil coordinates Ari and Barbara`s wedding, calling in favors from all his friends around town. Though he does it for free, he insists that only Ed and Carol know this and keep it to themselves, so as not to destroy any other potentially lucrative schemes to come his way.

Fine Food and Drink
Jamie Masters affords this week`s episode with lots of food opportunity. He comes to Ed`s office munching on Twizzlers. He spruces up his doctor`s summary of his condition by saying he`s one burrito away from exploding. Pop Tarts, pudding, and Jello also draw mention. He mentions a number of diets he`s been on, including the Jared Fogel Subway diet. His brother video tapes him eating pizza in his shorts. The ten dollar bet involves wedding cake. Ed, Carol, Mike, and Nancy enjoy popcorn and soda in the alley. Ari and Barbara write to KFC to see if Colonel Sanders is available to be best man at their wedding. While it is revealed that the colonel is actually dead, KFC extends its congratulations with coupons for free honey BBQ wings. Ed later dresses up as the Colonel to fulfill their wishes.

Cast & Crew In-Jokes
The insurance company Schlessinger and Rose, which Gavin, Mark and Warren pass by on the street, takes its name from two set designers.
