Ed (Tom Cavanagh) gears up for an appeal of his parking meter case until his sexy opponent -- the assistant district attorney (guest star Rena Sofer, "Melrose Place") -- drops the case and unexpectedly asks him out, which irritates Carol (Julie Bowen) because she thinks Ed automatically assumed she would be jealous. In the meantime, Ed also represents a downtrodden life insurance salesman (guest star Ernie Sabella) whose new boss (guest star Gregg Edelman) callously decides to fire him based on what a fast-talking bass novelty toy will say next. In addition, Mike (Josh Randall) is convinced his matronly babysitter (guest star Teresa Yenque) has eyes for him and Phil`s (Michael Ian Black) latest scheme is to invite the cast of "Happy Days" to Stuckeybowl to drum up business.
Ed is confused when Bonnie appears in court to drop the case against good samaritan, Hal Shaffer. He has plenty of work to do, however, when attempting to help out a life insurance salesman, fired because he couldn`t make a fish sing. They file a lawsuit against his former employer, but in the end, it is not the courts who decide this case.
Ed asks all his Stuckeybowl employees to come up with ways to drum up some business. Kenny decides miniature bowling will do the trick, but his initial design needs work. Shirley tries Karaoke, but her idea falls flat. Phil packs the place with people wanting to get a glimpse of the cast from Happy Days, but can he deliver?
Nancy and Mike try out yet another new nanny, but this one falls in love with Mike and makes him uncomfortable with her longing gazes and obvious agitation when he`s around. Nancy thinks he`s kidding, and Carmella jokes around when confronted with Mike`s theory, but later proves it correct.
Ed and Bonnie go out for drinks, much to Carol`s dismay. Ed bares his soul, but is frustrated with Bonnie`s silence. When she does tell her secrets, they seem to be kindred spirits, and share an exciting first kiss.
Ed gives Carol ice skates for her birthday and promises to teach her to skate. Later, Ed and Carol fight about his date with Bonnie: specifically that Ed should have told Carol about it. They later reconcile on the ice.

Ten Bucks Mike bets Ed that he can`t order a Shirley Temple when he goes out with Bonnie Hane for drinks at the Smiling Goat. This episode also featured a spoof of $10 bets: Nancy (as Mike) challenges Molly (as Ed) to call the waitress at their favorite restaurant "fancy pants". (Ed up $40)
Who's Godfrey? The second life insurance salesman who loses his job for not making Casey the Catfish sing is named Godfrey.
Dave Alert! Gary, Ed`s client, uses the word "gesphyncto" as a synonym for "fired," a word invented by Mr. Letterman.
Legal Update Ed wins the parking meter case appeal in a walkover, and the singing fish case is dropped. He is now 5-3 with two settlements.
Miscellaneous The songs sung by the Asian gentleman at Karaoke Night: "Space Oddity" (David Bowie), "To All the Girls I Loved Before" (Julio Iglesias and Willie Nelson) and "Cruisin`" (Smokey Robinson and the Miracles), performed as a duet with Kenny. Ed offers Carol a duet of "Ebony and Ivory" (Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney).
Stubbs Schemes Phil promises to pack Stuckeybowl "tighter than a Brazilian soccer stadium" with Meet the Gang from Happy Days Night. When he can`t hire any of the original cast, he opts for an odd set of "Happy Days" impersonators, including an African-American Fonzie.
Sarah`s Nannies Carmela, the new nanny, has eyes for "Dawktor Bourton" - or is it just his "big, beautiful" forehead? (6th)
Fine Food and Drink Dr. Mike introduces his first born daughter to "one of life`s finest pleasures", aerosol whipped cream. Ed orders the aforementioned Shirley Temple...
